Gordian had three key goals for its 2016 community service effort.
- Financial assistance: Monetary donations helped make an immediate impact on Habitat for Humanity in local communities.
- Employee volunteerism: Employees were provided volunteer time off, in addition to existing vacation and holidays, to devote to community service initiatives, as an individual or as part of the Habitat for Humanity initiative.
- Lasting impact: The initiative created a tangible and long-term impact in the community, supporting Gordian’s legacy of community involvement and support.
“I knew our employees would be involved, but the level of commitment and enthusiasm throughout the year exceeded our goals,” added Pollak. “Four families in our local communities now have homes of their own, and our employees’ efforts helped make that a reality.”
Nearly 10% of Gordian employees participated in five build days during 2016 in Greenville, SC; Philadelphia, PA; New Haven, CT; and Stoughton, MA. Additionally, the company’s donation of $45,000 was comprised of $20,000 in employee donations and a corporate match-plus of $25,000. Employees raised money with a combination of individual donations, bake sales, and even an internal coin war competition, a fund-raising game where each department represented a team. In 2017, the company will continue its service and fundraising efforts with Habitat for Humanity, as well as expand its focus to include environmental initiatives.
