VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--U.S. military troops and veterans will be receiving an extra dose of holiday cheer this year thanks to GEICO and United Way of Hampton Roads. GEICO's Virginia Beach associates personalized, decorated and signed over 1,000 holiday cards to be sent to military members through the Mission United program.
“We were thrilled when our long-time partner, GEICO, agreed to support the Mission United initiative”
United Way of Hampton Roads launched its Mission United program last month on Veterans Day to help show its appreciation for service members during the holiday season. All holiday cards will be sent to deployed military troops and presented to veterans at the VA Hospital in Hampton.
"We were thrilled when our long-time partner, GEICO, agreed to support the Mission United initiative," said Bill Blake, United Way of Hampton Roads vice president of resource and development. "I can't thank the wonderful team at GEICO's Virginia Beach office enough for their outpouring of love to our brave men and women in uniform."
GEICO's Virginia Beach office, home of its military sales and service departments, is dedicated to supporting military troops, veterans and families all year round. Associates frequently sponsor food drives for deployed units, volunteer at military-related events, and work with Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Heroes. They also maintain a close partnership with VetsHouse to help to solve veteran homelessness.
"The holiday season is a perfect time to give back to the military community and help bring joy to those who serve or have served our country," said Tom Garner, GEICO director of military sales and service. "Many of our GEICO military division associates are veterans themselves and are especially grateful for our U.S. troops. We are always proud to show our support to those men and women we are so grateful for."
