“We are sincerely grateful to Reliant and our supporters who rallied behind our cause to help us receive this amazing donation,” said Amy Spawn, executive director of The Warren Center. “The Reliant Gives donation will help us continue to serve and empower children and families across the Dallas-Fort Worth area impacted by developmental delays and disabilities.”
The two additional nonprofit recipients are Houston-based Snowdrop Foundation and CYCLE: Changing Young Children’s Lives through Education, which received $10,000 and $5,000 donations, respectively, based on the public vote total.
The Reliant Gives program, new in 2016, has now donated $345,000 to nine deserving nonprofits and plans to continue supporting great causes in 2017. To date, the Reliant Gives program has impacted nearly 120,000 lives across the state of Texas.
“It is such a joy to see the continued enthusiastic community participation in this great year-long campaign to support Texas nonprofits,” said Elizabeth Killinger, president, Reliant and NRG Retail. “From assisting women’s shelters to replanting trees to saving animals, it’s been both exciting and rewarding to engage with nonprofits and communities in Houston, Dallas and Corpus Christi, and just as important to give the public an opportunity to direct our charitable giving. We are excited to continue our successful momentum in 2017 and beyond.”
The nonprofits selected to participate in this most recent round of Reliant Gives included:
- Snowdrop Foundation in Houston, which provides scholarships for college-bound pediatric cancer patients and childhood cancer survivors.
- CYCLE: Changing Young Children’s Lives through Education in Houston, a charity that rewards students with new bicycles for achieving better academic performance.
- The Warren Center in Dallas, which helps children from birth to five years of age who struggle with a developmental delay or disability.
The Reliant Gives mission is to support causes that are important to people in Texas communities. Through this program, Reliant employees nominate and the public at large votes for the organization of their choice.
