--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--SECAF:
The Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF) today announced that The Honorable Thomas M. Davis will provide post-election insight at its first Executive Briefing of 2017. Wake Up - The Election Is Over will address some of the most pressing issues that government contractors are likely to face with a new administration, namely:
- How will the focus shift in the Executive branch policies and in the direction of the House and Senate? Is gridlock inevitable?
- What does the election say about the prospects for small government contractors? Will there be a push for or pushback on LPTA contracts?
- What funding changes are possible for Defense, National Security, or Veterans programs? Which Civilian agencies will see changes in their budgets?
- What are the prospects for immigration reform?
The Honorable Thomas M. Davis was first elected to office in 1979, winning a hard-fought campaign to represent Mason District on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. This would be the first of 12 straight victories, a winning streak spanning three decades. In 1991, after spending 12 years as a County supervisor, he defeated the incumbent chairman of the county board, taking the top elected office in Fairfax County, Virginia. Despite a severe economic downturn and a county budget deep in the red, Davis implemented numerous reforms that resulted in Fairfax being named the best-managed county in the country by Governing Magazine.
In 1994, he successfully took on another incumbent, this time winning a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives to represent the 11th Congressional District of Virginia. Davis was the first freshman in 50 years to be given a subcommittee chairmanship, taking the gavel of the Subcommittee on the District of Columbia. He now serves as a Director for Deloitte & Touche where he continues his effort to bring effective, common sense solutions to government.
