NEW YORK--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--BlackRock Advisors, LLC announced today that the Board of Trustees of BlackRock Defined Opportunity Credit Trust (NYSE:BHL) (the “Trust) approved the adoption of a Plan of Liquidation and the termination of the Trust on or before August 31, 2017, consistent with the Trust’s investment objectives. The Trust’s investment objectives and policies are not designed to seek to return to investors the initial offering price per common share on the termination date. Under the Plan of Liquidation, which is effective as of January 1, 2017, the Trust will begin the process of liquidating portfolio assets and unwinding its affairs in preparation for the Trust’s anticipated termination on or before August 31, 2017. The Trust expects to make periodic liquidating distributions to shareholders pursuant to the Plan of Liquidation in advance of its termination and make a final liquidating distribution on or around August 31, 2017.
