SAN DIEGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--BIOTONE founder and president Jean Shea has received the Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF) Award for Distinguished Service. The MTF recognized Shea for her many years of support for the Foundation’s research, education and community programs and for her service to advance the massage profession.
“I am honored to be acknowledged for supporting MTF over the years”
In making the announcement, Jerrilyn Cambron, MTF Board President, said, “This award is given to individuals whose service to the profession, by nature of their generous volunteer efforts on behalf of the Foundation, goes far beyond the norm. Jean’s commitment to our community service programs, even during times when we faced a challenging economy, has enabled hundreds of individuals throughout the country and across borders to benefit from massage therapy. Not only has Jean been an advocate for MTF programs; her efforts over the years have helped to raise awareness about the benefits of massage therapy as part of an integrated healthcare program.”
Shea previously was honored by the MTF as a Sustaining Benefactor. She is passionate about the potential of massage as part of mainstream healthcare and treatment and as a result BIOTONE has provided over $100,000 to MTF for its Community Grants program as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars to research the benefits of massage to treat major illnesses.
“I am honored to be acknowledged for supporting MTF over the years,” said Shea. “Funding for MTF community service projects is a cornerstone of BIOTONE’s corporate charitable giving. We take great satisfaction in knowing that through the MTF Community Grants many individuals get needed help through the healing touch of massage. The community-based massage projects also have added to the industry’s knowledge about the benefits of massage for a wide range of health conditions.”
