DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital Trauma Symposium Celebrates 64th Year

DETROIT--()--The Detroit Trauma Symposium, a joint effort by DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital and the Wayne State University School of Medicine will kick off it’s 64th year on Thursday, November 10, 2016. The Trauma Symposium will run through Friday, November 11, 2016 at the MGM Grand in Detroit. Hundreds of attendees are expected to come from across the country to listen to a fantastic line-up of speakers.

“The audience has continued to grow every year and on our 64th anniversary we are pleased to be the largest, continuously running symposium on trauma medicine in the world.”

The Detroit Trauma Symposium is designed to address breakthroughs in the care of an injured person. Presenters and attendees will represent physicians, nurses, and allied health providers who work together to care for trauma patients. Attendees will gain knowledge about their own specialities, as well as an increased appreciation of the work of others on the trauma team.

Topics of interest this year include:

  • Firearm injury prevention (including a panel discussion featuring Detroit Police Chief James Craig)
  • Sports-related concussion injuries (including a panel discussion featuring Detroit Red Wings team physician Anthony Colucci)
  • Current and future military efforts in handling trauma patients and their impact on civilian trauma victims
