SAN DIEGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--In observance of National Mental Health Awareness Month, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) is encouraging residents to commit to mental health wellness. The 32,000 membership organization is raising awareness of the prevalence of mental health issues and working with communities to provide relief.
“The Future of Mental Health: Tools for the Therapist’s Toolbox”
Approximately one in five adults experience a diagnosable mental health issue such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, eating disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, or post-traumatic stress disorder.
This month, and every month, Marriage and Family Therapists stand with those who live with mental health challenges and remind Californians of the treatment options available.
CAMFT Executive Director Jill Epstein shared, “Marriage and Family Therapists provide relief for clients through effective talk therapy. Therapy promotes healthy, happy and productive lives.”
Marriage and Family Therapists actively work with individuals who are experiencing challenges with relationship issues, and are also experts in treating addiction/recovery; mood and stress disorders, and trauma.
CAMFT will hold its 52nd Annual Conference, “The Future of Mental Health: Tools for the Therapist’s Toolbox,” from May 12-15, 2016 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport hotel. The conference will feature workshops to equip therapists with 21st century tools to help support and treat mental health issues.
