WASHINGTON--()--ECFC, the leading nonprofit organization promoting choice in benefit solutions, is excited to announce Martin Trussell as their new Executive Director as they continue to expand their influence in advancing health care consumerism.

“Marty has been at the forefront of health care industry change for more than three decades and his wealth of knowledge is unmatched”

“Marty has been at the forefront of health care industry change for more than three decades and his wealth of knowledge is unmatched,” said William Short, ECFC’s Board of Directors Chairman. “He led the rapid growth of one of the nation’s leading savings account administrators recognized for its innovation and designated a model for financial institutions wishing to achieve success in the HSA marketplace. We are proud to have him represent ECFC in our work to further promote choice in benefits solutions.”

Trussell is a 30-year veteran of the health care industry, including holding senior marketing and sales roles with third-party benefits administrators and HMOs, and more than a decade in the corporate offices of Humana, Inc. He has also acted as president of a marketing communications firm specializing in serving health care clients.

Most recently, Trussell was vice president of sales and business development at Acclaris, a company that offers an integrated package of technology and services to support account-based health care plans such as health savings accounts (HSAs), flexible spending accounts (FSAs) and health reimbursement accounts (HRAs).

“ECFC is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and I have long seen its influence in our space in legislative and regulatory initiatives, certifications, publications and industry networking,” Trussell said. “It is rewarding to represent the growing needs of ECFC members through the ever-changing health care reform climate and continue to work to put a consumer-driven account into the hands of everyone.”

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Trussell speaks and writes frequently about consumer-directed health care topics.

ECFC, an organization of nearly 200 employer members, spearheads the education and advocacy of consumer-directed accounts, such as FSAs, HRAs and HSAs. These plans assist employers and employees in making good health care decisions, and it’s estimated that more than 100 million Americans today benefit from consumer-directed accounts.
