BURLINGTON, Mass.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The wine by the glass experience has reached new heights as a result of a recent partnership between Coravin, Inc., manufacturer of the Coravin™ Model Two and Model Eight Wine Systems, which allow users to access and pour any bottle of wine without pulling the cork, and iconic American steakhouse, Smith & Wollensky. Eight Smith & Wollensky locations in the United States are introducing Coravin to pour premium wines by the glass for the first time.
“Launching a nationwide Coravin program gives us an invaluable opportunity to offer super premium wines by the glass to our guests enjoying tableside service and drinks in our bar and lounge area”
With the introduction of Coravin at its locations, Smith & Wollensky is revolutionizing the dining experience and the way wine is served and enjoyed tableside. Diners can now pair their favorite wines from the ultra-premium by the glass list with their USDA Prime hand cut steaks. Wine selections on the Coravin by the glass list include: 1996 Marcarini “Pertinace” Barbaresco, 2004 BV “George de Latour” Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005 Palmaz Winery Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 Antinori “Guado al Tasso” Super Tuscan, 2010 Cardinale Meritage and 2013 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon.
“Launching a nationwide Coravin program gives us an invaluable opportunity to offer super premium wines by the glass to our guests enjoying tableside service and drinks in our bar and lounge area,” said Kim Giguere-Lapine, Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group’s Vice President of Marketing. “Smith & Wollensky is known for our hospitality – and we’re especially excited about adopting the Coravin System in our restaurants to further enhance the dining experience for our guests.”
For Timothy Speziale, Assistant General Manager at Smith & Wollensky, Atlantic Wharf, Coravin “is a great tool for us to deliver an exceptional food and wine experience for our guests. The uniqueness of the wines we are able to provide by the glass gives us an additional level of luxury and service for our clientele. Not only that, but it creates an amazing buzz in the restaurant and it is an awesome conversation starter.”
The Coravin System is the first and only tool in the world that allows the Sommelier to pour wine without removing the cork. This safeguards the remaining wine from oxidation and allows restaurants to offer premium wines by the glass, without the risk and cost of spoilage.
“We are thrilled to partner with Smith & Wollensky to create a truly memorable dining experience for their patrons by using Coravin tableside to elevate wine by the glass offerings,” said Kareem Ghobrial, Director for North American Sales at Coravin, Inc.

Coravin, Inc. is a privately held company located in Burlington, Massachusetts focused on transforming the way wine is served, sold and enjoyed. Coravin designs and markets the Model Two and Model Eight Wine Systems for wine enthusiasts, restaurants, wine stores and wineries. Unparalleled in craftsmanship and design, Coravin uses proprietary patented technology to access and pour wine from a bottle without pulling the cork. Wine enthusiasts can now enjoy wine sealed with corks without feeling the need to commit to the whole bottle, allowing them to explore wines of any vintage, varietal or region, one taste at a time. With Coravin, wine, after being accessed, remains in the bottle, continuing to evolve naturally. It can then be enjoyed later since it was never exposed to oxygen.
