National Philanthropic Trust Donors Recommend $335 Million to Charities in First Six Months of 2015

Donor-Advised Fund Grantmaking Continues Double-Digit Growth, Supporting Charities around the Globe

JENKINTOWN, Pa.--()--National Philanthropic Trust (NPT), the largest independent charity to offer donor-advised funds in the US, made a total of 10,584 grants in the first six months of 2015 on behalf of its donors, representing more than $335 million in mission-critical funding to charities. The total number of grants in the first half of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014 is a 24.5 percent increase while the total dollar value of grants to charities increased 49.5 percent.

From January 1 to June 30, 2015, NPT donors directed 10,584 grants with a total value of $335 million to charities around the globe. NPT donors contributed more than $216 million to their donor-advised funds in the first half of 2015. For the same six-month time period in 2014, NPT donors directed 8,497 grants with a total value of $224 million; donors contributed $210 million to their donor-advised funds.

Since its founding in 1996, NPT has raised more than $5.2 billion in liquid and illiquid asset charitable contributions and has made more than 121,000 grants totaling almost $3 billion to charities around the world.
