Unacast Strengthens Advisory Board

Bringing together global leaders in proximity, international privacy law experts and tech entrepreneurs, the board will support the continued rapid expansion of the business, helping maintain its position at the forefront of the booming proximity industry.

New to the board are:

Jarno Vanto: US privacy lawyer, Partner at Borenius Attorneys

A partner at Borenius Attorneys in New York and adjunct professor of law at Pace University School of Law, Vanto is an expert in data privacy, data security law and licensing issues related to international proximity marketing solutions. He also holds extensive experience in advising venture-backed data analytics and advertising solution companies throughout their growth cycle.

Vanto is the author and editor of several books on data privacy, editor-in-chief and co-author of the International Privacy Guide and co-editor and co-author of the International Contract Manual.

Asif Khan: proximity industry leader, founder and president Location Based Marketing Association

Khan is a veteran tech start-up, business-development and marketing entrepreneur with more than 15 years’ experience. He is the founder and President of The Location Based Marketing Association (LBMA), an international group dedicated to fostering research, education and collaborative innovation at the intersection of people, places and media.

Khan is one of the main evangelists, educators and speakers within the location-based marketing community and hosts a range of conferences, as well as the recognised weekly podcast, "This Week In Location-Based Marketing".

Eva Jarbekk – EU privacy lawyer, Partner at FøyenTorkildesen

One of Norway´s best known privacy lawyers and partner at the FøyenTorkildsen law firm, Jarbekk is a key advisor to the Norwegian Government and major international companies on privacy issues. She holds a number of public positions including Chair of the Norwegian Privacy Tribunal.

Stephen Statler: Beacon expert and principal consultant at Statler Consulting

Statler is one of few beacon experts in the world and principal consultant at Statler Consulting where he writes, trains and advises on the application of proximity technology to entrepreneurs, investors and venue owners. Statler previously worked at Qualcomm, the world's largest provider of mobile semiconductors, where he led Qualcomm Retail Solutions’ Strategy and Solutions Management groups.

Rune Lending: tech pioneer and CTO of Tidal HiFi

Lending is part of the founding team and CTO of Tidal HiFi, the streaming music service recently acquired by Jay-Z. With 15 years’ experience in running large tech organizations, Lending is a pioneer in building complex and high volume performance architecture and platforms.

The new appointments follow 12 months of rapid growth during which time the business has established itself as the dominant global player in the booming proximity industry, operating the world’s largest network of proximity data – the Unacast PROX Network - covering the full technology stack including beacons, NFC and wifi. It is the first media platform to truly bridge the offline/online gap at scale as the backend of proximity, offering brands and retailers the possibility to retarget users online based on proximity interactions – dubbed by marketers as ‘the holy grail’.
