Snow Weary Bay Staters Researching Florida, Carolina Moves In 2015, Says PrivateCommunities.com

Nearly Half Exploring Florida Communities

A Combined 41% Seeking North and South Carolina Real Estate

VERO BEACH, Fla.--()--The leading online consumer research and information portal for second homes and master-planned communities has been tracking the online real estate shopping habits of Massachusetts residents. With punishing snowfalls it is not surprising they are looking south for future moves.

“People used to plan extensive trips to see and shop communities for the first time”

PrivateCommunities.com reports that for the 12 months ending January, 2015, Florida master-planned communities topped the list of information requests (46%) made by online real estate shoppers who live in the Bay State. South Carolina (25%), North Carolina (16%) and Georgia (5%) communities rounded out the top four.

“I am sure all this snow will influence some decisions to finally make a move south,” said Elisabeth Miller-Fox, co-founder of PrivateCommunities.com. “But the data we collected shows that a move has been on the minds of Massachussans all year.”

Miller-Fox explained that online shopping for real estate has fundamentally changed the way most real estate purchase decisions are made, and that a consumer taking that leap to ask for more information means more in today’s competitive real estate market with fewer buyers.

“People used to plan extensive trips to see and shop communities for the first time,” said Miller-Fox. “But now a consumer has the safety of their own computer to compare dozens of master-planned communities all at once – so when they request more content that is a good sign for community marketers.”

Established in 1996, PrivateCommunities.com is a comprehensive research and information site for affluent consumers seeking primary, retirement or second homes in master-planned communities. Communities profiled offer a variety of amenities from golf to boating, tennis and equestrian facilities with property listed from $100,000 to $20 million.
