CA Landmark Group Acquires Westside Family YMCA Property on Sawtelle Boulevard in West L.A.

LOS ANGELES--()--California Landmark Group (CLG), in partnership with the Cayton Group, has purchased the Westside Family YMCA property on Sawtelle, with plans to create a modern, mixed-use project featuring 73 residential units and 7,700 square feet of ground floor commercial space.

“California Landmark prides itself on integrating smart developments with the surrounding neighborhoods. It’s our hallmark.”

The YMCA will continue to operate at this location until its new 60,000 square foot state-of-the art facility is completed on the campus of nearby University High School.

CLG’s mixed-use plan on Sawtelle is consistent with current zoning, and will bring needed new rental housing, including below-market affordable units, to West Los Angeles. As a company with more than 25 years of development experience on the Westside, CLG looks forward to reaching out to neighbors to share plans and designs for the site, and to receive community input.

“CLG is excited to add a new project to the thriving Sawtelle corridor by improving walkability and adding new concepts to the flourishing food scene,” said CLG President Ken Kahan. “California Landmark prides itself on integrating smart developments with the surrounding neighborhoods. It’s our hallmark.”

Recent examples of such integration by CLG include the bw (www.thebw.com), a contemporary 78-unit mixed use building at Barrington Ave. and Wilshire Blvd.; the hw (www.thehw.com), a 79-unit California courtyard residential project located along Hollywood Blvd. near Laurel Canyon; and the soon to be completed LC (www.thelc.com) a mid-century 84-unit mixed use development at Larchmont and Melrose.

The Sawtelle project is expected to embrace a contemporary architectural theme similar to buildings in modern day Tokyo. California Landmark expects to share initial designs with local neighbors in coming months.
