STAVANGER, Norway--()--The international conference on Human Rights and Counter-terrorism is being convened in Geneva by The Global Network for Rights and Development (GNRD) headquartered in Stavanger, Norway with regional offices in Jordan, Belgium, UAE, Spain, Switzerland, etc.

“This is an historic gathering of government leaders, academics, human rights defenders and other experts from more than 40 countries who will weigh in on one of the most pressing issues of the day: terrorism”

The main topic of discussion will be the draft of the International Convention on Balancing Counter-terrorism and Human Rights, as well as an introduction of the International Initiative on Human Rights and Counter-Terrorism, coordinated by GNRD.

Featured presentations at the conference will offer analysis and discussion on globally implemented counter-terrorism measures from a human rights perspective, defining the most relevant security threats and challenges, such as increasing radicalization, oppression of civil liberties and the phenomenon of foreign fighters. Leading experts in the field of counter-terrorism and international human rights will present an overview of most relevant challenges and developments in promoting human rights while countering terrorism globally.

“This is an historic gathering of government leaders, academics, human rights defenders and other experts from more than 40 countries who will weigh in on one of the most pressing issues of the day: terrorism,” said GNRD President, Dr. Loai Deeb. “And, while governments must confront the growing and ever-changing networks of terror, they also must be mindful of protecting citizens’ human rights. It’s a balance that must be struck within the frameworks of international law,” he added.
