OMAHA, Neb.--()--Wolf Brand Chili, a brand of ConAgra Foods, Inc. (NYSE: CAG) and the No. 1 chili in Texas, is returning to its roots, touring the state to capture the authentic Lone Star spirit that’s as bold and unmistakable as the authentic chili. Wolf Brand Chili has partnered with photographer Lauren Marek, a specialist in capturing Texas lifestyle, to document the unique relationships Texans have with Wolf Brand Chili. From the brand’s birthplace in Corsicana to the Texas State Fair in Dallas, Wolf Brand Chili will canvass the state to celebrate that bold Texas spirit.

“open up a big ol’ can of Texas”

A Bowl of Texas History

Wolf Brand Chili’s Texas roots date back nearly 120 years to a recipe developed by Lyman T. Davis in 1895. Knowing he had a winner on his hands, Davis took the recipe to the oil boomtown of Corsicana, where he began selling it outside the Blue Front Saloon for five cents a bowl. By the 1920’s, Davis began canning his now-famous chili and selected his pet wolf, Kaiser Bill, to adorn the label. As chili fans began to “open up a big ol’ can of Texas” for the first time, the legend grew.

The Legend Lives On

Today Wolf Brand Chili’s distinctive thick, hearty recipe with flavorful spices remains a favorite in Texas and beyond. Whether you prefer yours hot or mild, with or without beans, Wolf Brand offers 11 different satisfying chili recipes.

“Wolf Brand Chili has been a mealtime tradition for generations of Texans,” said Jonathan Schaefer, Brand Director for Wolf Brand Chili. “We’re proud of our place in the state’s unique flavor and we look forward to many more years of bringing a warm, satisfying chili to the table.”

See You At The Fair!
